Meet Nate

Tradition of Service

Biography

Born in the glass capital of the world, Toledo, Ohio; Nathaniel Doss, III, born to Nathaniel Jr. and Bernice Doss (Turner), is the oldest of nine siblings. Nathaniel attended Toledo Public Schools until matriculating to St. John’s Jesuit High School. Nathaniel’s step-father, Mark Johnson, took a position in Virginia Beach, VA, and subsequently moved the family before the start of Nathaniel’s junior year.

Nathaniel immediately loved Virginia Beach, falling in love with the beautiful Chesapeake Bay and Seven Cities. Upon graduation from Bayside High School and after consideration of many athletic and academic scholarship offers, Nathaniel decided upon a much different path. Under the mentorship of Master Sergeant Marlon Martin, Nathaniel made the life-altering decision of joining the United States Marine Corps. Nathaniel served his country proudly, domestically and abroad.

Upon being discharged from the Marines, Nathaniel took the skills that had been so carefully developed and honed and entered the civilian workforce. Nathaniel has since managed a myriad of large and small businesses and corporations throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic.

Nathaniel’s continued success in business management led him to Chattanooga, TN. After managing in many cities throughout the country, Nathaniel finally felt at home as an adult. The Scenic City finally gave Nathaniel something that had eluded him, a permanent place to raise his family. It is after all where he found and married his wife Riki, a Hampton University alumni. Together they have 11 children ranging in age from three months to twenty years old. Their oldest two sons continued the legacy of patriotism and service that started with Nathaniel’s grandparents by enlisting into service as Marines. Nathaniel and Riki’s greatest pride is, and always will be, with their children. Whether college students, athletes, or burgeoning artists and comedians; they bask in their children’s accomplishments and growth as proud parents.

Both Nathaniel and Riki, thankful for having been abundantly blessed, happily became servants to their philanthropy giving their time and resources to their community. Nathaniel is passionate about bolstering rural resources and sustainability. He also feels strongly about education, infrastructure, criminal justice reform, and environmental issues.

It is Nathaniel’s earnest wish to continue his lifetime commitment to service by representing the people of District Three in Tennessee. Nathaniel recognizes the struggles of urban and rural Tennesseans alike, and will firmly endeavor to be the bridge that unites all the communities representing District Three. A vote for Nathaniel Doss, III is a vote for us. In times of divisiveness and uncertainty, be the voice to commit to
